After School Program
SPARK After School Program
SPARK is a state-licensed 2-star After-School program for children, Kindergarten to 8th grades. In addition to after-school opportunities, we provide before and after-school care, and a full program during the summer. SPARK’s mission is to provide neighborhood children a safe, loving atmosphere with opportunities for enrichment in reading and the arts. It is a great place for our church members to volunteer, such as in the SPARK Tutoring progam. If you are a part of FPCOKC, and interested in tutoring, or being a substitute for teachers and bus drivers, fill out the form below.
FPCOKC established SPARK in 1984 as a mission and as a gift to the community, but SPARK has grown into its own, and is now a fully operational 2-Star facility!
Now is the time to enroll. Slots are filling up fast! Please use the form to the right to log your interest and hear back from me. We have lots of exciting activities planned. If you have any questions feel free to give me a call!

History of SPARK
These days SPARK has grown to have awesome Summer programs full of trips to water parks, museums, and the zoo. From Halloween Parties to special Spring Break outings, from tutoring to cooking classes, from exciting art projects with the Art Council (e.g. learning origami and painting with bamboo brushes with Ms. Kristi), to an energetic and highly qualified staff, SPARK has something for every child!
Looking back on our history can be even more energizing.
SPARK was established in 1984 to provide neighborhood children a safe, loving atmosphere with opportunities for enrichment in reading and the arts. It began with a few volunteers and a vision for neighborhood outreach. Now we have an all day Summer program, Fall Break, Spring Break, in addition to providing before and afterschool care. It is a paid staff now, and a licensed 2-Star DHS-approved facility.
It is also a great place for church members to volunteer! We need people interested in tutoring and to substitute for teachers and bus drivers. We are seeking individuals who have a commercial driver’s license. If you would like to be involved with these bright, charming children or would like more information please contact Elizabeth Hatcher, Tutoring Coordinator, or Tish Harrison, SPARK Director.
